Today was the Baie St Paul Canada Cup. Leading up to the race I have been feeling good and I am riding well so I was confident I could do well.
Then Friday night I woke up at midnight with my ear super painful and it felt like it was going to explode. I tried popping my ears and it didn't help and after lying in bed for 3 hrs in tons of pain I got up and drove to the hospital to see if they could give me any painkillers since I never packed any ibuprofen on this trip. The nurse was able to help me and also told me to come back in the morning when a doctor would be working to have it checked out.
I went back Saturday saw the doctor and she said my eustachion tubes were plugged most likely from allergies and I had a lot of swelling and pressure build up. She also gave me a prescription for antibiotics since it was infected.
It was my first time ever taking antibiotics but I am sure they are helping.
Today's race I had a call up in the second row which I was fine with and from the gun I rode aggressively and was able to move up and was in the front group for the first couple of laps. I then had a two lap battle with Kris Sneddon for 4th place until I was able to gap him with 2 laps to go and maintain my gap of 6 seconds for the rest of the race. On the final lap Benjamin Sontag caught me about halfway through the climb and I wasn't able to go with him.
I ended up finishing 5th 10 seconds behind Ben and 6 seconds in front of Sneddon. and just under 3min behind Max.
A good start to the bigger races.
Next weekend is Canada Cup Tremblant and the goal is to be top 3
